Marketing is strategic while sales is tactical efforts to communicate with your customers. The product manager must formulate the message for both the marketing and sales. To optimize the sales function the product manager must communicate and train the sales team on how to deliver the best message about the product.
This involve formal training sessions as well as joint customer meetings so that the product manager and sales professional can work together to determine the best approach. As the market evolves and the product matures, continuous communication with the sales team will help to evolve the message to fit the needs of the customer.
Aligning the marketing messages with that of the sales team will provide a consistent voice across all customer touch points.
