Communication

Communication isn’t a single step in a process of product management. It is the most important activity that must be done throughout the entire process. I’ve placed it at the end because it is easy to forget once the product or product line is rolling. Even with mature products the communication must be done across all entities to ensure the future success of the brand.

The product manager must gather information from all groups: engineering, supply chain, sales, manufacturing, and management to make the best choice for the product and how it fits within the organization.

Developing a robust communication protocol throughout the product management process will ensure everyone is on the same page and provide a platform for them to share information with you that could affect the future of the product line.
